A HEALTHY turnout produced a healthy response from exhibitors at the UK's first Your Healthy Living Show, say organisers.

Despite gloomy recession fears, some 2,000 consumers flocked to the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) for the two-day event.

More than 60 retailers and suppliers of healthy and natural products showcased their wares alongside free seminars, demo areas and treatments for the public.

VIP guests included broadcaster and 'Imperfectly Natural' author Janey Lee Grace and 'Fat around the Middle' author and broadcaster Dr Marilyn Glenville PhD.

Janey Lee said: "In addition to the fantastic range of products available here at the show, the BIC is a brilliant venue.

"It's great choosing healthy products while looking out to sea. What a fabulous location."

Organisers say aim of the show was to educate health conscious consumers about core health food brands and products, empowering them to make informed purchasing choices.

Bournemouth was chosen because its demographics show a large number of local consumers meet these criteria.

Dr Thomasina Craster from Wave of Life says she's now fully booked with appointments for at least the next three weeks, thanks to the show.

"It's been absolutely marvellous and we've been inundated," she said.

"There've been some excellent products here and good quality stands, and the whole show has been efficiently put together."

Nick Mead from Lifeplan said: "We've been very impressed and have had a steady flow of very interested people. We've been able to direct people straight over to local health store retailers who stock our products."

Lesley Constable from Solgar said: "We've welcomed the footfall here and have found the quality of consumer attending to be very high."
