Some of the most well known and experienced personalities in this field talked at Your Healthy Living Edinburgh 2009 and you can read a short piece about each one of them here. Already confirmed for 2010 are Jan de Vries and Marilyn Glenville with more to come soon.

Jan de Vries

Jan currently consults at 8 clinics ranging from his Head Office, at Auchenkyle, Southwood Road, Troon, to his premises at 45 Upper Drumcondra Road, Dublin 9, with bi-monthly shop consultations, in Aberdeen, Dumfries, Stranraer and Largs He is also heavily involved in voluntary work in under-developed countries.

Jan lectures extensively in the UK, Northern Ireland and Eire. He is a regular guest on The Afternoon Show on RTE Dublin and on national radio where he has a loyal audience.

Currently he has written over forty books on a myriad of health problems and writes in many magazines and newspapers with regular columns in local papers such as 'The Ayrshire Post' and The Kilmarnock Standard as well as regular articles in The Sunday Post, The Belfast Telegraph and Ulster Tatler.

Janey Lee Grace

Janey is a presenter on the UK's most listened to radio station (BBC Radio 2 co-hosting Steve Wright in the afternoon) and with of her first bestseller Imperfectly Natural Woman – Getting Life Right The Natural Way, and her second book - Imperfectly Natural Baby and Toddler Janey now occupies the position as The UK's New Green Goddess. She regularly appears on TV and radio offering expert knowledge and experience of all things holistic from organic food and clothing to chemical free cleaning and natural birth and parenting - all with emphasis on being 'real' albeit imperfectly!!

Janey says, "we're all imperfect - we've all got lives to lead, jobs to hold down, relationships and families to maintain! We all want a healthier happier and more holistic lifestyle, but still want to down that double espresso, occasionally use that very un-organic makeup (because it's the only one that actually does cover the bags under your eyes), and to swear profusely when the councils new green policy tells us we have to sort our rubbish into 4 different bin bags."

Janey appears regularly on the Wright stuff on Channel 5 and frequently gives 'Imperfectly Natural' talks and events.

Marilyn Glenville PhD

Dr Marilyn Glenville PhD is a registered member of the Nutrition Society, a Fellow of The Royal Society of Medicine, psychologist, author and broadcaster who obtained her doctorate from Cambridge University.

Dr Glenville has studied and practised nutrition for over 25 years, both in the UK and in the USA, focusing on the natural approach to female hormone problems. Today she is recognised as the UK’s leading nutritionist specialising in women’s health.

She is the President of the Food and Health Forum at the Royal Society of Medicine and is a patron of the Daisy Network, a charity for premature menopause. Dr Glenville was also formerly an observer on the Food Standards Agency’s Expert Group on the safety of vitamins and minerals.

Dr Tom Gilhooly

Dr Tom Gilhooly is a principal in General Practice and Medical Director of The Essential Health Clinic. He has worked in addiction medicine for over 20 years and is a Visiting Medical Officer to Glasgow Drug Crisis Centre. Dr Tom applies his knowledge of nutritional medicine to his daily NHS Practice and also in The Essential Health Clinic. He is involved in several ongoing research projects research into Multiple Sclerosis and Autism using LDN. He is also involved in fund raising for MS research.

The Essential Health Clinic in Glasgow is a nutritional medicine clinic which specialises in the treatment of auto immune disorder with LDN. It is also an Omega Centre of Excellence using omega 3 and other natural treatments for a wide range of medical conditions.


Dee Atkinson Medical Herbalist MCPP

Based in Edinburgh, Dee Atkinson has been practising as a Medical Herbalist since 1988. In addition to being the Managing Director of Napiers The Herbalists limited, Dee is a council member of the College of Practitioners of Phytotherapy, a member of the EHPA (European Herbal Practitioners Association) and has worked on the Herbal Medicine Regulatory Working Group, a consultation group dealing with the regulation of herbal medicine, products and practitioners.

Since 1992, when Dee took over Napier’s business with its wealth of herbal history, she has been building the practise back up, developing the manufacturing side of the business and re-establishing a traditional herbal house.

Growing up on an organic farm, Dee has always had an interest in natural medicines, and in the healing properties of plants. Having spent time working on health projects in India and Africa, the decision to re train as a Medical Herbalist was a natural move.

Dee also writes regular articles and columns in various newspapers and magazines as well as TV and radio appearances such as GMTV with Lorraine Kelly, and the Beechgrove Garden. In 2006 and 2007 she was voted into the UK’s top 250 private doctors by Tatler Magazine.

Debra Nobes

Debra Nobes has over 20 years experience in natural health with in-depth understanding of nutritional and complimentary therapies. Debra regularly runs training sessions as well as speaking publicly on all aspects of natural nutritional health, making her a very informative guest speaker for The Your Healthy Living Show, Edinburgh.
