Concerns for the environment are very much at the forefront of today's shoppers' minds when it comes to selecting products and brands. We know that this is an important issue to you, our readers, so in our November 2021 issue we asked you to vote for the brands you feel are really making a difference and reducing their impact on the environment.

Voting has now closed, with the winner and runners-up to be announced in the March 2022 issue of Your Healthy Living. You can read about the nominated brands below.

A The environment is everything to us. Friendly Soap was created to help protect the environment. We wanted to create a product that impacted on nature as little as possible and a company which focused on sustainability rather than profit.

Q Why is supporting the environment so important to your brand?

A At Coyne Healthcare, we’re in the business of great health – not only for the public but the environment too. We’ve embarked on action aimed at reducing waste, lowering our carbon footprint and contributing to environmental regeneration and social change. We have invested into making “green thinking” an integral part of our company’s culture and of all the lives we touch.

Q As a company, what are the most important steps you have taken so far to support the environment?

A We commit to a “better than net zero” carbon policy on the basis of science-based targets, audited by a third-party specialist. Our climate policy includes: no air miles for products we buy or sell, no meat, net zero of our own organisation footprint, double offsetting of any business flights through carbon air capture, a “climate tax” internal mechanism, and additional bespoke offsetting through selected environmental projects.

Q Why is supporting the environment so important to your brand?

A We believe we all have responsibility for the choices we make and the impact of these choices on those without a voice in the wider environment. Every choice we make and product we buy has an impact on the world we live in. We try to understand this and take responsibility for the whole lifecycle of our products.

Q Why is supporting the environment so important to your brand?

A There are so many reasons why supporting the environment is important to our brand. For over 20 years now, Ecozone have kept sustainability at the core of everything we do, and with the increasing danger of climate change, this only becomes more and more important. We also strongly believe that by enabling people to make small lifestyle changes we can make a huge difference to the planet. This is what has encouraged us to continue innovating new and affordable products that can really make a difference.

AllMatters

Q Why is supporting the environment so important to your brand?

A Back in 2012 the realisation of how many single-use menstrual products were being flushed into our seas led AllMatters (formerly OrganiCup) to make an impact with the introduction of the reusable menstrual cup. Our brand name change in September 2021 to AllMatters is indicative of how we feel as a company that however small the sustainability change is in people’s lives, it all matters.

Essential

Q As a company, what are the most important steps you have taken so far to support the environment?

A Essential have always had environmental consciousness. All of our products are transported by sea or land, never as air freight. We set this precedent 50 years ago. Our warehouse is solar-powered and we are currently tendering for additional installation, while Ecotricity powers our Harvest outlets. Even our network hosting service is carbon neutral! These are just some of many important steps.

Q As a company, what are the most important steps you have taken so far, to support the environment?

A Our commitment to the environment has seen us launch The Better Planet Project, an eco-initiative that supports research into the impact climate change is having on the planet. From funding Antarctic expeditions to predict our planet’s future in the age of manmade climate change, to supporting and lobbying local recycling projects, we’re working towards a better planet.

Q What is your brand’s overall approach to environmental sustainability?

A Committed to being the most responsible supplier of cleaning products in the UK, Bio-D incorporates sustainability in every step of the business: from the products it creates, to its supply chain and day-to-day operations. Using plant-based and naturally derived ingredients that are vegan, cruelty-free, and ethically sourced, Bio-D’s products are manufactured in the UK to help further reduce its impact on the environment.

Unbeelievable Health

Q Do you support any environmental causes or donate any of your profits to environmental organisations or charities?

A We produce supplements which combine bee products with plant-based ingredients and we donate a portion of sales to bee charities including Bees for Development, who help lift people out of poverty through teaching beekeeping. They’ve even convinced illegal poachers to switch to beekeeping. Bees for Development have been around for over 30 years and count Sting as a Patron.
