Celebrity Health – Tess Daly

TV presenter Tess Daly chats to YHL about her health and wellness routine

TV presenter and former model Tess Daly is a familiar face on our screens, and an inspiring advocate for women’s health. Here, we catch up with her to find out more about her wellness habits and self-care secrets.

Q How do you keep fit and healthy? Do you have any wellness habits or practices that are essential to your daily routine?

Tess: I make a conscious effort to move my body every day. Yoga is a big part of my routine, not just for physical strength and flexibility, but also for mental clarity. I find it incredibly grounding. I also have a set of light weights in the house so I can squeeze in a quick workout wherever I am: no excuses!

Q What do you tend to eat during a typical day?

Tess: Food is really important to me. I never skip meals because I need the energy to stay focused and productive. For breakfast, I usually go for yogurt topped with plenty of seeds for fibre. If I’m in a rush, banana and honey on toast is my go-to. Lunchtime tends to be busy, so I keep it simple but nutritious. It’s usually a tuna mayonnaise wrap or a fresh salad; something that helps maintain my energy levels throughout the afternoon.

Dinner is my favourite meal of the day, so I like to make it count. I love fish, so dishes like tuna in teriyaki sauce or salmon with chilli and lime are some of my staples, often paired with sweet potatoes and a mix of vegetables. I do have a sweet tooth, and I believe in balance. A small chocolate bar in the afternoon keeps me going, or sometimes I’ll opt for popcorn or a handful of nuts.

Q Do you follow any particular eating style, for example the Mediterranean diet, plant-based or flexitarian?

Tess: I don’t eat red meat, but beyond that, I focus on maintaining a balanced and nutritious diet and increasing protein through other sources. I believe in listening to your body and finding what works best for you.

Q What supplements do you take and what prompted you to start them?

Tess: I take Wellwoman Max daily and I’m proud to be a Wellwoman ambassador. I’m passionate about wellness and empowerment, and these supplements help me feel my best every day. They include vitamin B6 to support hormonal balance and calcium to support bone health, plus Evening Primrose and Starflower oils. They’re thoughtfully designed to support women’s health – that’s why I trust them.

Q Are there any particular exercises you do to maintain bone and muscle strength that you swear by?

Tess: Yoga and light resistance training are my go-tos. They help with flexibility, posture and strength, and are gentle enough to be sustainable long-term.

Q How do you manage stress?

Tess: Yoga is my sanctuary. I try to do 10-15 minutes every night before bed. It helps me clear my mind, relax my body, and prepare for restful sleep. It’s a brilliant way to reset.

Q You are a role model for women over the age of 50. What health and wellness advicde can you give our readers who are in this age bracket?

Tess: Give yourself a few minutes each day to breathe deeply and speak kindly to yourself. Wellness isn’t one-size-fits-all; it’s about finding what works for you and making it a priority. Be gentle with yourself and celebrate the small wins.

Q You have been the brand ambassador for Vitabiotics for some time. What prompted this partnership?

Tess: I have long championed women’s health. Women lead busy lives and often each day can be a juggling act! Wellwoman supports women to live full, vibrant lives at every stage of their lives. I’ve always believed in embracing health and wellness without giving up life’s little pleasures. It’s about finding what works for you, eating healthily and getting the right nutrition, staying active and being kind to yourself.
